STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific athletics team is proud to announce the hiring of
Nate LeRoy as a new assistant swimming and diving coach.
A Stockton native, LeRoy is a graduate of University of the Pacific and a former swimmer. He has been a coach with Tiger Aquatics – a competitive USA swimming club for youth – since 2012 and the head coach there since 2019.
"I could not be more excited to have
Nate LeRoy join our staff. He brings 10 years of coaching experience that will immediately help elevate our program," said Head Coach
Katelyne Herrington. "LeRoy swam at Pacific from 2010-2013 and has been coaching with Tiger Aquatics since 2012, a year-round swim program. I've had the opportunity to see LeRoy's "coach to athlete" relationships over the years while coaching at San Joaquin Delta College and Tiger Aquatics, which has led him to his success. LeRoy was recently named coach of the year and helped Delta College win a Big 8 Championship in 2022. LeRoy's coaching philosophy is highlighted by his commitment to communication, allowing for cohesive trust to be built. LeRoy's passion and knowledge for swimming are undeniable, bringing a new level of energy to our program!
During his time with Tiger Aquatics, LeRoy has developed top-level high school athletes and had swimmers reach the junior national level of competition. Throughout his tenure, the club had the most futures and sectionals qualifiers representing its program.
LeRoy also served as an assistant coach at San Joaquin Delta College from 2013 until accepting the job at Pacific in 2022. In 2021, the program had the most successful year in its history, with its women's team winning the Big Eight Conference Championship, the first in school history.
"The opportunity to coach at University of the Pacific, where I swam collegiately, has been a long-term goal," said LeRoy. "Sentimentally, I met my wife at this University, and I obtained my first Senior National Cut apart of this University and pursued my passion because of the positive experiences at this University. These strong connections make me committed to wanting to be at University of the Pacific and provide similar experiences to the next group of student-athletes."
