SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team remained undefeated (4-0-6) as the team scored first in a 1-1 draw against UC Santa Barbara (1-6-3).
Anaya Shelton scored her second goal of the season and Jenae Packard continued her fantastic season with her fifth assist of the season. Ryanne Molenaar, Lauren Frohan and Hunter More took shots for the Tigers. Brenna Crump and Weronika Baranowska split time in goal, with each keeper playing one half.
Shelton got the Tigers on the board early, as Packard slipped a pass across the face of the goal, and Shelton tapped the pass in to put the Tigers up early. The Tigers made the most of their opportunities as Shelton's goal was their only shot on goal in the match.
The Gauchos responded quickly in the second half, scoring in the 52nd minute to bring the game even at one. UC Santa Barbara had multiple chances in the second half, but Baranowska did a great job of staying big and keeping the game even.
"Tale of two halves," said Co-Head Coaches Danesha Adams and J.J. Wozniak. "We played well the first half and scored a great goal but needed more from the half in production. Credit to Santa Barbara for making some adjustments at the half. Not the result we wanted as we host a conference opponent for our last non-conference game but things we can learn from. We have a week to prepare for our last non-conference game on Sunday vs. Santa Clara, and we will be ready to go."
The Tigers are back home next Sunday, Sept 25, facing off against Santa Clara in a non-conference matchup.
