Tigers Fall to Matadors

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Tigers dropped the final game of a three-game homestand to CSUN Thursday night. Falling 1-0 to the Matadors.

The two teams battled early, with the Matadors testing the Tiger's back line with 12 shots, four being on goal. Eric Cotton was up to the task, stopping all four shots to keep the game scoreless in the first half. Ryan Her and Yazid Omri constantly created chances in the midfield for the Tigers, but the CSUN defense held their own, limiting them to just one shot on goal in the first half.

The Matadors scored right out of halftime as an attack down the wing ended with the ball in the back of the net. The Tigers got two shots on goal in the second half and had six shots total in the half but could not get a ball past the CSUN goalkeeper.

In a scrappy match, the Tigers only used three subs as the starters flowed well together on the pitch.

"This is a good game to learn from because this is what's coming," said Head Coach Adam Reeves. "This is what is coming up the rest of the season. A hard-working team likes to put the ball in behind and run at you. We weren't good enough tonight on what we pride ourselves on and what we like to do."

The Tigers head up the road on Sunday, taking on Sacramento State. Kick-off will be at noon.
