Tigers Battle to Draw with Beavers

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Tigers started the scoring early, but a second-half goal from Oregon State kept the game a draw for the two sides.

Jenae Packard scored her second goal of the season while putting three shots on goal and recording five total shots. Jade Enalen and Lauren Frohan both had three shots and two shots on goal. 22 total shots and 13 shots on goal are both season-highs for the Tigers. In goal, Brenna Crump had eight saves, tied for her season-high.

Packard scored seemingly before the referee had stopped blowing the starting whistle, finding the back of the net in the fourth minute after receiving a sharp pass from Lauren Frohan. With ten shots in the first half, the Tigers constantly put pressure on the Beaver defense. Oregon State had seven shots of their own in the first half as both offenses were humming.

"We were fantastic in the first half," said Co-Head Coaches Danesha Adams and J.J. Wozniak. "We got an early goal which was amazing soccer, and we had a few other big moments and could not finish. When it's 1-0, you always leave a team in the game and credit them. They took a moment well in the second half."

The Beavers put two shots on goal early in the second half, forcing Crump to make spectacular saves to keep the Tiger lead. To tie the match, Oregon State found the back of the net off a set piece in the 57th minute.

The Tigers had multiple great chances in the second half, including a shot straight off the crossbar that landed just in front of the line but could not find that elusive go-ahead goal as the match ended in a draw.

"We are in a good place," said Adams and Wozniak. "We play Oregon State and Long Beach State to draws. Now we play a Big-10 opponent in Iowa, and I think this group is ready."

The Tigers are on the road next week, taking on Iowa and Fresno State on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.
