Medina Goal Leads Tigers Over Aggies

DAVIS, Calif. – The Tigers continued their undefeated start to the season as Melani Medina scored the game's lone goal to take the 1-0 win for the Tigers.

Lauren Frohan had two shots on goal with three shots in 69 minutes played. Jenae Packard, Haleigh Wynne and Ryanne Molenaar all had shots on goal. Medina had one shot on goal, which found the back of the net.

Both teams were firing early, as the teams combined for five shots in the first 25 minutes. The two defenses settled in for the remainder of the first half as the two teams went into the break scoreless.

The Tigers started the second half the same way they started the first, as Jade Enalen put a shot wide of the net in the 47th minute. Molenaar put a shot on the net off a free kick which forced a save and a Tiger's corner kick. Off the corner kick, Medina found the ball in the fray and put it in the back of the net with a beautiful header to put the Tigers up one.

Brenna Crump was locked in during the second half, making three saves after the Tigers took the lead. The Tigers held the Aggies without a shot in the final 15 minutes to secure the win.

"Just a great result for the Tigers today," said Co-Head Coaches Danesha Adams and J.J. Wozniak. "We enjoy big wins for sure, and to beat UC Davis in their home opener is a quality win. However, we know we got so much more in the tank, so we will get back tomorrow morning and prepare for our next home match against Pac-12 opponent Oregon State this coming Sunday! We look forward to seeing you all at Knoles Field to support your Tigers!"

The Tigers will kick off against Oregon State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
