Men's Soccer adds Chavez to the Team

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Tigers have added a rock-solid defender with offensive upside, as Javier Chavez joins the team from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

In two seasons with Rio Grande Valley Chavez played in 25 games with two goals in four shots on goal. Chavez was named to the All-WAC Freshman team in his first year while playing in every game.

"We are excited to welcome Javier into our program and university," says Head Coach Adam Reeves. "Javier is a versatile defender that can play as a CB or RB, defend his area well and is extremely comfortable on the ball.  Most importantly, he is a great student athlete and person that will fit seamlessly within the team.  Javier brings Division I experience with him and we look forward to integrating him into our back four."

Prior to joining the Vaqueros, Chavez was a member of the Houston Dynamo academy.
