SPOKANE, WA – Despite 14 points from the reigning WCC Freshman of Week
Elizabeth Elliott, the Tigers could not get the offense going against one of the best teams in the conference. The Bulldogs took an early lead and rode that to a 79-38 win.
Along with leading the team in points, Elliott led the Tigers in rebounds and added a steal.
Liz Smith had eight points, and
Erica Adams had six.
Cecilia Holmberg led the Tigers in minutes and assists with 28 and three, respectively.
After Gonzaga took an early lead, the Tigers kept it close, learning from the last time the two teams matched up. Pacific was able to bring it within one-point multiple times but could not overtake the Bulldogs. Gonzaga started to pull away late, leading by 11 heading into the second quarter.
The Bulldogs showed their depth, with four players in double-digits, but no one scored more than 12 points. The Tigers were able to get good looks against a stout Gonzaga defense. However, they could not get shots to fall as Gonzaga created a sizable lead by the third quarter. The Tigers continued to play hard, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
On Saturday, Feb 5, the Tigers are back home as they host Saint Mary's. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
