Tigers Host Portland on Senior Day

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Playing in its final home game of the season, the Pacific men's basketball team welcomes Portland to the Alex G. Spanos Center on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Last Monday, Jeremiah Bailey led the Tigers against San Francisco, scoring a team-high 20 points. Bailey was one of four Tigers to score in double figures as he earned his second-straight 20-point performance and was a perfect four-for-four from the three-point line. The senior from Fairbanks, Alaska, who has improved from the free-throw line throughout the season, shot 80 percent (eight-for-10) from the charity stripe.

Nick Blake and Jaden Byers also reached double figures for the Tigers as they combined for 22 second-half points. Blake, who finished the game with 16 points, shot 54.5 percent (six-for-11) from the floor, while Byers tied his career-high in points with 10 and had one of his best shooting performances of the season.

Alphonso Anderson, who scored all 11 of his points in the first half, led the team with five rebounds and was influential on the defensive side of the ball as he drew five fouls.

After defeating Pepperdine, 77-74, on February 19, Portland enters Thursday's contest on a five-game winning streak and has an overall record of 16-12. The Pilots have rattled off four-straight conference wins, including an upset victory over San Francisco, to cement themselves in seventh place in the conference standings with a record of 6-6.

The program has improved under first-year head coach Shantay Legans and is guaranteed at least a .500 record for the first time since the 2014-15 season when the team went 17-16.

Pacific leads the all-time series against Portland, 30-13, as the Tigers have won nine of the last 10 contests. During that stretch, the Tigers have outscored the Pilots, 701-593, averaging 70.1 points per game. The Tigers have also been victorious against the Pilots at home, holding a 17-3 record in Stockton.
