STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's soccer team (3-10-2, 2-3-1) had chances early against the conference's top team but could not put a shot away in a 2-0 loss to San Diego (7-4-6, 5-0-1).
Junior
Cory Johnson led the team in shots with three and shots on goal with two. Senior
Samuel Saiz Herraiz fired two shots, and sophomore
Ben-Martin Wilkinson put one shot on goal. Senior
Eric Cotton saved five shots in goal.
Pacific had a great chance in the first two minutes as Johnson had an opportunity right in front of the net and put the ball just over the crossbar. Both teams had chances early in the game, and San Diego put a goal away first, scoring in the 14th minute. The Tigers fired away two more shots in the 30th minute but could not score.
The physical battle continued well into the second half as the Tigers looked for an equalizer, and the Toreros continued to look for ways to build the lead. A penalty goal in the second half extended the lead for the Toreros. The Tigers took two shots in the game's final ten minutes but were unable to score.
The Tigers are back in action at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, against Stanford.
