STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team and Head Coach Greg Gibbons have officially announced Shelby Gorospe of Peoria, Ariz., as the first commitment of the signing class for the 2023 season.
"We are very excited with the addition of Shelby," Gibbons said. "She adds size and physicality to our team and can play multiple positions."
Gorospe joins the Tigers after finishing a stellar four-year career at Sunrise Mountain High School and competing at the club level for Revolution Volleyball Academy. While at Sunrise Mountain, Gorospe accumulated 607 kills with a hitting percentage of .350. The 6-2 middle blocker recorded 240 blocks throughout her career and tallied a career-high 0.7 blocks per set during her senior season.
In her final season of competition at Sunrise Mountain, Gorospe led the Mustangs to a 24-9 overall record and a first-place finish in the 5A- Northwest Section. Guiding the team with 197 kills on 394 attempts and 61 total blocks, Gorospe helped lead the Mustangs to a semifinal appearance in the AIA State Girls Volleyball Championships.
Gorospe accumulated multiple honors at the end of her senior season, including earning 5A-Northwest All-Conference First Team and garnering 5A-Northwest Offensive Player of the Year.
"She has competed at a very high level and will be a great addition both on and off the court," Gibbons continued.
