Volleyball Takes on #2 San Diego on the Road

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team continues West Coast Conference play on Saturday, Nov. 12, as it faces off at #2 San Diego at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Biamba Kabengele led the Tigers (13-12, 5-9) in the team's match against Pepperdine at the Alex G. Spanos Center, recording her eighth double-double with a 12-kill and 12-dig performance. Ranking second on the team with 234 kills, Kabengele has led the team offensively in five straight matches, tallying 80 kills during that span. The senior from Burlington, Ontario, continues to rank among the league's best in multiple offensive categories, ranking fourth in kills per set (4.0), service aces per set (0.40), and points per set (4.6) in 11 conference matches played.

San Diego enters Saturday's contest as the WCC's highest nationally ranked team, coming in at #2 in the most recent AVCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. After sweeping Saint Mary's last Thursday at home, the nationally ranked Toreros (23-1, 14-0) have won 20-straight matches, a program record.

Katie Lukes, Grace Frohling, and Breana Edwards lead the Toreros offensively, combining for 871 of the team's 1,119 kills. Lukes, a former WCC Offensive Player of the Week recipient this season, leads the team with 326 kills, while Frohling ranks second on the team in kills with 248. Edwards, the third team member to accumulate at least 200 kills this season, ranks third on the team with 243.

Defensively, the Toreros rank fourth in the conference in total blocks with 196, with Leyla Blackwell leading the team with 110.

The Tigers have only defeated the Toreros once in program history, earning a 3-1 win at the Alex G. Spanos Center last season. However, the Toreros bested the Tigers in the first matchup this season, earning a 3-0 victory on Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
