MALIBU, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team dropped a West Coast Conference contest Thursday evening, falling to #20 Pepperdine, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 at the Firestone Fieldhouse.
Alexa Edwards and
Biamba Kabengele led the Tigers (10-7, 2-3) offensively, combining for 24 kills, with Edwards accumulating a team-high 14. Edwards continues to lead the team and conference in kills with 261 while recording her sixth-straight match with at least 10 kills.
Kabengele registered her fifth-straight match with a double-digit kill total, adding 10 against the Waves (13-4, 4-2). Recording her fifth double-double of the season, Kabengele added 10 digs during the contest, the fourth time in five matches she has reached double-digits in digs.
After dropping the first two sets, the Tigers kept the match competitive during the third set and trailed by no more than two points midway through the frame. Trailing the Waves, 12-10, the Tigers jumped ahead for the second time in the match, 14-13, by winning two of the following three points. The Waves, however, rallied and secured the match by outscoring the Tigers 12-5 the rest of the way.
Pacific returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, as the Tigers travel to face off against Loyola Marymount at the Gersten Pavilion, with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m.
