PORTLAND, Ore.- The Pacific women's soccer team (5-3-10, 0-3-4) fell behind early against Portland (11-2-4, 5-2) despite a late goal from freshman Allie Jones Portland took the 3-1 win.
"Tough result on the road to a quality opponent. We must keep fighting and find ways to win games," said Co-Head Coach Danesha Adams.
Jones scored her first collegiate goal. Junior Laila Saravia put two shots on goal. Senior Jaida Nyby took two shots. In her first start of the year, senior Weronika Baranowska recorded two saves. The Tigers put six shots on goal while holding the Pilots to five shots on goal.
The Pilots put the first goal on the board in the 20th minute. The Tiger defense recovered nicely, limiting the Pilots to just two more shots on goal in the half. Pacific was able to fire two shots on goal, but Bre Norris stopped the Tiger attack and helped Portland take a 1-0 lead into the half.
The Pilots continued to push the Tiger defense in the second half, scoring in the 67th minute and the 86th minute to take a 3-0 lead. Pacific continued to fight, putting three shots on goal, including Jones's 89th-minute goal to put Pacific on the board.
"We are looking forward to heading home and getting back on Knoles. We will be ready to get after it on Wednesday. There are results still to be had," said Co-Head Coach J.J. Wozniak.
Pacific is back home on Wednesday, hosting Loyola Marymount at 7 p.m. at Knoles Field.
