Tigers Battle to Draw with Broncos

STOCKTON, Calif. – With the start of the conference schedule underway, the Pacific men's soccer team (1-7-2) battled Santa Clara (3-2-4) to a 0-0 draw.

The Tiger's attack primarily came from two attackers. Samuel Saiz Herraiz took four shots while Emmanuel Benson-Oladeinbo fired off five. Ryan Her had one shot. The Tigers had two shots on goal, with Saiz Herriaz and Benson-Oladeinbo each having one. Brian Lanier recorded his first career shutout in goal while stopping four Broncos shots. Pacific had eight players play all 90 minutes, while Lukas Aeberli played 89 minutes. Every starter played over 70.

The energy was high for both teams to start the game during a chilly night at Knoles Field. The two teams combined for 13 shots in the first half, with each team putting two on goal. Pacific had a 2-1 corner kick advantage in the first half.

Pacific maintained the 2-1 corner kick advantage in the second half while taking three shots, including a ball that just missed Benson-Oladeinbo's outstretched foot right in front of the net. As the temperature dropped, the intensity rose. With only eight total shots in the second half, it was a defensive showing for both squads.

The Tigers head back on the road next week, traveling to Loyola Marymount on Saturday, Oct. 8
