STOCKTON, Calif. – Turns out their bite was worse than their bark as Gonzaga led early and did not look back, cruising to a 92-51 win over the Tigers.
Liz Smith led the team with 16 points, going three of five from deep.
Erica Adams and
Anaya James had 11 and 10, respectively, while
Elizabeth Elliott led the team in rebounds with seven. Elliott set a career-high in minutes, playing 30 minutes tied for the team lead with James.
In a feast and famine game, the Bulldogs seemingly could not miss in the first quarter, putting up 26 points while holding the Tigers to seven. The second quarter was almost identical, with Gonzaga scoring 25 and the Tigers scoring seven.
Coming out of the half, the Tigers showed some resilience, scoring 20 points for their highest quarter of the game. Pacific followed that up by outscoring Gonzaga in the fourth with 17 points.
The Tigers continue WCC play on Saturday, traveling to Portland to battle the Pilots. Portland just defeated San Francisco in a close game 65-60. Tip-off will be at 2 PM at the Chiles Center.
