SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Tigers had a tale of two halves in San Francisco. A disappointing first half, followed by the Tigers outscoring the Dons in the second half by eight points. The solid second half was insufficient for the Tigers to overcome the Dons as San Francisco won 88-71.
Erica Adams had a career night in the loss, scoring 19 points and playing all 40 minutes. Adams is the first Tiger to play in all 40 minutes in a game this season.
Anaya James had 16 points, and
Liz Smith had 15 points.
Madelene Ennis and
Elizabeth Elliott led the team with eight rebounds apiece. Adams and James both had four assists as well.
For the second game in a row, the Tigers started slow, scoring only nine points in the first quarter while the Dons put up 31 points. The second quarter went better for the Tigers, being outscored by only three points, including a 6-0 run with over two minutes to go.
The two teams bounced back and forth in the third quarter, with both teams scoring 18 points in the quarter, including the Tigers going on a 10-0 run in the quarter. Adams led the team with six points in the quarter. The Tigers outscored the Dons in the fourth quarter, as Adams had seven points and the Tigers scored 25 points in the quarter, the second-most for either team in the game.
The Tigers are back at the Alex G. Spanos Center on Saturday, Jan 22, as they host Pepperdine at 2 p.m. It will be a doubleheader with the men's team playing directly afterward.
