PROVO, Utah - The No. 11 BYU volleyball team swept the University of the Pacific in the West Coast Conference opener for both teams on Thursday night. The Cougars were victorious by a 25-13, 25-12, 25-17 margin to raise its record to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in WCC play, the Tigers fall to 3-9 overall and 0-1 in WCC action.

Alexa Edwards led the attack with a match-high 10 kills and nearly had a double double as she also had eight digs in the loss.
Ramonni Cook and
Darina Kumanova each added six kills. Pacific setter
Jenna Heller had 14 assists and libero
Jadyn Tubbs added 10 digs.

BYU hit .280 for the match and utilized a balanced attack in the win as Kenzie Koerber had nine kills and 10 digs to pace the Cougars. Whitney Bower had a match-high 23 assists, plus Taylen Ballard-Nixon had a match-high three service aces and four block assists.

Set 1
BYU started the match on a 10-2 run and never looked back. After the Cougars pushed the lead to double digits, the Tigers were unable to draw any closer. BYU started the match with a .355 hitting percentage as Kenzie Koerber and Sophia Callahan each had four kills to lead the Cougars.
Darina Kumanova led Pacific with three kills,
Alexa Edwards and
Kennedy Kaminsky each had two blocks in the set.

Set 2
The Cougars in the second were nearly perfect on side outs going 11-for-12 and for the second set in a row they led from start to finish. Edwards had four kills to lead the Tigers and Koerber and Elyse Stowell each had four kills for the Cougars.Â

Set 3
The third set was the most tightly contested of the match as the Cougars and Tigers were tied on three occasions. With the set tied at 10, a three-point push by host BYU put them ahead for the remainder of the set to secure the win. For Pacific, Edwards and Cook had five and four kills, respectively. The Cougars got nine kills from six-different players en route to a .161 hitting percentage to go along with five service aces. Â
Next up for Pacific is a trip to No. 25Â University of San Diego on Saturday, Sept. 25 at noon. The Toreros come into the match with a 7-3 mark. Two of the three losses were to nationally-ranked teams.
