Eight Tigers Receive All-WCC Honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference postseason awards for men's soccer were announced Friday afternoon. From the University of the Pacific Men's Soccer program, eight members of the team received postseason recognition for spring 2021.

Junior midfielders Ryan Her and Yazid Omri were named to the All-WCC Second Team. Named All-WCC Honorable Mention from Pacific was Charles Brewah, Emory Rapaport, Jose Angel Reyes, Samuel Saiz Herraiz and Avery Whipple. One member of the Tigers was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team which was Cory Johnson. 

Her received bookend honors for spring 2021 having already been named to the All-WCC Preseason Team before the start of the season. The midfielder appeared in eight matches as a starter, logging 697 minutes and playing all available minutes in his first five appearances. Her had a total of 13 shots during the season with three on net. Friday's conference honor was the second of its kind in Her's career. 

Omri scored two goals and two assists in spring 2021. He scored thee game winner in Pacific's 3-2 victory over Saint Mary's on April 3, which led him to being named WCC Offensive Player of the Week. In the first-ever victory in program history against the Gaels, Omri had an assist from a corner kick to start the Tigers' scoring in the match. The transfer started eight matches. 

Brewah played 697 minutes as a defender for the Tigers, including seven matches in which he played all available minutes. 

Rapaport scored a pair of goals in 2021, including the first in the 3-2 win over Saint Mary's. Tuesday's honor for Rapaport was the second of his career from the WCC. In 2019, he was named to the All-WCC Men's Soccer Freshman Team. 

Leading all non-goalkeepers for Pacific in minutes was Jose Angel Reyes with over 800 on the season. He scored his only goal of the season in the home opener on February 20 against San Francisco. 

With a team-high four assists for Pacific was Samuel Saiz Herraiz. Two of the four assists led to game winning goals against Portland and Saint Mary's. 

Whipple netted his first career goal with Pacific's in a 2-1 victory over Portland on March 7. He also had one assist, as he started eight of nine matches in the spring season. 

An important contributor off the Tigers' bench, Cory Johnson logged 155 minutes and had four shots, with one on net in spring 2021.  

In the second season under the direction of head coach Adam Reeves, the Tigers went 2-7-0 and 2-4-0 in WCC play.
