Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – Hosting a Fresno-based school for the second straight day, the No. 13 Pacific women's water polo team (8-5, 5-1) toppled Fresno Pacific (0-6, 0-0), 22-8, on Sunday afternoon at Chris Kjeldsen Pool at the
Pacific Aquatics Center.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- After a narrow loss to No. 12 Fresno State on Saturday, the Tigers came out hungry and ready to attack, scoring five first quarter goals to jump out to an early lead over the Sunbirds. In the quarter, junior Ana Martinez do Amaral and redshirt senior Truly Dorland led the way with two goals apiece while junior Toula Falvey found her first of the afternoon at the 4:30 mark. At the end of one, Pacific held a 5-2 advantage over Fresno Pacific.
- Experiencing similar success in the second, the Tigers once again outscored their opponents, 5-2, in the period, which included two more goals from Dorland, who recorded the first half hat trick. Additionally, junior Brianna Utas netted her two goals of the contest while redshirt senior Viktoria Tamas and senior Natalie Hosmer joined the party with one goal just 48 seconds into the quarter.
- At the halftime break, Pacific remained in front of Fresno Pacific by six, 10-4.
- Pouring it on out of the locker room, Falvey continued her dominance with five goals in the third quarter alone, followed by two additional goals from senior Brooke Contreras and freshman Sofia Leonardini to close out the period. Through three quarters complete, the Tigers led by double digits over the Sunbirds, 17-5.
- Completing the hat trick in her final regular season game in her hometown, Hosmer scored twice more in the fourth, as well as two goals from junior Mia Garcia and one from freshman Annikah Lillie.
- Cruising to victory in their final regular season home match of the year, Pacific cruised to victory over Fresno Pacific, 22-8, on senior day.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Overall, ten different Tigers scored at least once in the contest: Falvey (6), Dorland (3), Hosmer (3), do Amaral (2), Garcia (2), Utas (2), Contreras (1), Leonardini (1), Lillie (1) and Tamas (1).
- For Falvey, Sunday's six goals marked her most in a single game in her career as a Tiger while Hosmer also notched a career-high with three goals against the Sunbirds. Additionally, Dorland also tallied at least three goals for the eighth time this season.
- In the cage, Emanuella Nathan picked up her fifth win of the year with five saves in the first half before fellow freshman Helen McGrath recorded five saves in her first action since Mar. 14 against Austin College.
- Extending their streak, the Tigers are now a perfect 16-0 against Fresno Pacific dating back to 2008.
