Tigers Extend Winning Streak to Four for First Win at LMU Since 2016

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Pacific volleyball team extended its winning streak to four as they recorded a 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 26-24 win on Thursday at the Albert Gersten Pavilion.
 
The Tigers (11-13, 8-5 WCC) have now won 12 of its last 13 sets. The set three victory by LMU ended a stretch of 11 set victories in a row by Pacific for its longest stretch since the 2017 season. Now, Pacific is on its second four-match winning streak of the season. It is the first win by Pacific in Los Angeles since a five-set victory in 2016.

A balanced attack for Pacific was evident in the match with eight-different players recording a kill as Alexa Edwards and Darina Kumanova paced the team with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Setters Jenna Heller and Gabby Leo had 20 and 14 assists, respectively. Plus, Leo added 12 digs for her fourth double double of the season. Libero Jadyn Tubbs had 15 digs, eight assists and three service aces. The frontline for Pacific had eight blocks – three from Ramonni Cook and two each from Kennedy Kaminsky and Sedona Sherman.
 
The Lions (15-7, 6-6 WCC) spread the attack among three players as Megan Rice had 14 kills and Aubrey Klemp and Rose Booth each had 11. Isabella Bareford had a double double with 38 assists and 10 digs. Booth also had six service aces and three block assists in the loss.

Set 1
• Pacific closed out the set on a 4-0 run with a pair of kills by Darina Kumanova, who had six kills in the opening set to go along with a kill by Lucy Carpenter and a service error by the host Lions.
• Jenna Heller had seven assists towards a Pacific attack that out hit .175 to .138.
• Neither team was able to sustain a lead with 19 tie scores and nine lead changes. 

Set 2
• After a pair of five-point leads, Pacific went ahead by six, 19-13 on an Illyria Kalaj service ace.
• The back-and-forth match efforts continued in the second set until four-straight points by the Tigers prompted a LMU timeout as the Tigers head a 13-9 lead. 
• The four-straight points were a balanced effort by the Tigers as they got a service ace by Jadyn Tubbs, a block by the tandem of Sedona Sherman and Ramonni Cook, a kill each by Alexa Edwards and Kennedy Kaminsky. 

Set 3
• LMU was able to take a six-point lead, 14-8, for its largest lead on the night.
• The Tigers clawed back with six in row to tie the set at 14.
• After the two teams were tied at 15, a three-point spurt by the host Lions put them ahead for the remainder of the set.

Set 4
• An early 5-0 run put Pacific ahead 5-1 and later in the set the Tigers scored four straight en route to a 9-4 lead.
• Later in the set, the Tigers built another five-point lead, 17-12 on an Abby Miller kill.
• Pacific remained in front until a late surge by the Lions tied the set at 23 and 24, respectively.
• The Tigers closed out the match, capitalizing on a service error and a block by the duo of Ramonni Cook and Kennedy Kaminsky for the 26-24 set victory.  
 
Next, Pacific will travel to Malibu to face Pepperdine on Saturday, Nov. 6 at noon.
