SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team fell to host Santa Clara in four as the Broncos were victorious - 25-20, 20-25, 25-14, 25-18.
The Tigers (7-13, 4-5 WCC) were led by a pair of double performances from
Darina Kumanova with 12 digs and 10 kills and
Jenna Heller, who had 15 assists and 10 digs. The service game for Pacific recorded five aces as the Pacific hitting efforts posted a .144 hitting percentage in the loss.
The Broncos (8-11, 4-5 WCC) spread the attack among six-different players en route to a .310 hitting percentage. Julia Sangiacomo had 17 kills and a .357 hitting percentage to go along with 15 digs to lead host SCU.
Set 1
• A 5-2 lead to start the match included a kill and an ace by
Darina Kumanova to go along with a Kennedy Kaminksy kill sparked the early lead.
• After the early lead, Santa Clara came back to take its first lead of the match after a Michelle Shaffer kills and a Pacific hitting error for a 10-8 lead.

Sedona Sherman recorded a kill to cut the SCU lead to 11-10; however, it would be the closest Pacific would get as the Broncos would go on to win the set by a 25-20 margin.
Set 2
• The two teams were tied on four occasions until midway through the set a 5-1 run put Pacific ahead 17-13 and for the rest of the set.
• The Pacific offense was sparked by a six assist effort from
Gabby Leo and four more assists from
Jenna Heller as the Tigers posted 12 kills and a .152 hitting percentage.
Set 3
• The two teams traded the first eight points until the Broncos scored four of the next five for an 8-5 lead as SCU would go on to lead for the remainder of the set.
• The Tigers were held to a .125 hitting percentage compared to a .438 set for the Broncos.
• Kumanova paced the attack for Pacific with 4 kills.
Set 4
• Santa Clara started the set with a 9-2 run before rallied to cut the deficit to five, 10-5 on a Broncos hitting error.
• Later in the set, a decisive 10-4 run by the Broncos ended the comeback hopes for Pacific.
• Santa Clara hit .357 to secure the set and the match.
Pacific has made its way through the first half of West Coast Conference play and will begin its second half on Saturday with a noon matchup against USF at noon.
