STOCKTON, CA- Coming off a disappointing result against BYU last Saturday, the Tigers were eager to get back on the pitch and get back into the win column. An exciting offensive show went the Tigers way as the two teams combined for 32 shots in the 2-1 Tigers win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bulldogs got out to an early lead in the first half when after an extensive attack on the Tigers side of the field, Erin Healy gave Gonzaga a 1-0 lead in the 26
th minute.
The Tigers bounced back quickly, not allowing their morale to waver.
Jade Enalen received a pass from
Abigail Wolf and buried it in the back of the net to tie the game for the Tigers at 1-1. If the first goal was the jab, the second goal from
Lauren Frohan was the knockout punch. Frohan's goal was assisted from
Jenae Packard and
Camryn Scully to give Pacific a lead they would not relinquish.
The second half was a battle, with both teams playing physical, midfield soccer. The Tigers defense stepped up and made the Bulldogs take low quality shots which goalkeeper
Brenna Crump was able to control with ease. The Tigers bend but don't break strategy worked well in keeping the Bulldogs off the board in the second half to secure the win.
TIGER LEADERS:
Enalen and Frohan both scored, Enalen's goal was her third of the season and Frohan's was her second. Enalen and Packard both had three shots and Enalen had two shots on goal.
Abigail Wolf,
Camryn Scully, and Packard all had assists.
Goalkeeper
Brenna Crump had 13 saves in goal which is the most for a Tiger goalkeeper since the 2018 season.
FROM THE TEAM:
"Coming back with this win, having an overall record of 10-3-2 is really big deal for us. You can see our progress not only on the field but in the results as well. We really deserved to get this win, we battled to the very end." – Jada Enalen, Junior Forward.
"It took energy from everybody, from the bench to everyone on the field, all the way down to the 90
th minute, everyone was cheering everyone on and putting in that work to get the final result. –
