STOCKTON, Calif. -
Brandon Reno, a senior on the men's swim and dive team, has been named a recipient of a 2020 Pacific Athletics Four Pillars Award, given to a student-athlete who exemplifies each of Pacific's four core identities: Family, Balance, Winning Spirit and Innovation.
A shining example of what it means to be a Pacific Tiger, Reno has shown excellence in balancing his dynamic workload as a student-athlete. In addition to being a member of the Dean's Honor Roll since his sophomore year, Reno currently holding a 3.45 cumulative GPA and is working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Media X with a concentration in Software Design as well as a minor in Computer Science.
Overall, Brandon has been a resource on campus in a few different areas during his time in Stockton, serving as a computer science tutor and a sports marketing intern. Additionally, he was named team captain of the men's swim and dive team his junior and senior year as his strong leadership consistently challenged his teammates to reach their max potential. If not in the water, Brandon can be found out in the community, volunteering his time by feeding the hungry and serving with Shared Space for All, an organization that provides shelter for those at risk from sex work/trafficking. He has also given time to the Adventure Project, which helps raise money to create transformative jobs for people in developing countries.
Rounding it out, Brandon has remained one of the most determined, focused and passionate competitors on his team. Wrapping up his career in style, he posted personal bests in both of his events at the 2020 MPSF Championships, scoring more points this year at conference than he has in any previous season, while being just .2 seconds off the school record in the 200-breast. Two weeks later, Reno achieved an Olympic Trial qualifying time in the 100-breast at Last Chance in Washington. Following graduation, Brandon plans on continuing his master's degree at Pacific in Computer Science Engineering while training for the 2021 Olympic Trials.
