LAST TIME OUT:
- After taking the series from South Dakota State last weekend, the Tigers fell to UC Davis, 9-3, in their first midweek game of the season.
- Providing a spark off the bench, junior Wyatt Hoffman was named the City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game after finishing 2-for-2 with one run scored against the Aggies.
- Stabilizing the staff, seniors Nick Swanson and Keaton Glover and junior Henrik Reinertsen combined for three innings of scoreless relief for the Tigers, recording one strikeout apiece.
- Keeping their rhythm, junior Alex LeForestier and sophomore Jeremy Lea each extended their hitting streaks to three games despite the loss.
- Making their impression, redshirt junior Hunter Konecny-Peña and juniors Cameron Michael and Steven Langley also each tallied their first hits in the Orange and Black.
ON THE PROWL:
- Lurking in the middle of the lineup, LeForestier and junior Charles Middleton have started hot in the 2020 season, coming into the series against the Redhawks with batting averages of .440 and .394 respectively. Leading the offensive attack for UOP, the duo is tied with a team-leading 9 RBI as well, good for second in the WCC. Additionally, Middleton is third among conference hitters with 13 hits while LeForestier is 17th nationally in walks (9) and second in the WCC in runs scored (10).
- Delivering in his first few contests in the Orange and Black, Delta College transfer James McClenaghan has also been a bright spot for head coach Chris Rodriguez, hitting .355 with 11 total bases in seven games played so far.
- Setting up the bullpen for success, Sweany and Pearce have impressed early on as the two pitchers have both gone at least 5.0 innings in their two starts of the season.
- Delivering when called upon, senior Joseph Standley Jr. has been reliable in relief for the Tigers, allowing just one earned run in five appearances so far (6.0 total IP).
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS:
- Dating back to 2010, this will mark the sixth series of at least three games or more between Seattle U and Pacific. In that stretch, the Tigers hold the 10-8 advantage over the Redhawks.
- Junior catcher Justin Mazzone enters the weekend hitting a team-best .417 batting average, tying him atop the team leaders in hits (10). The Huntington Beach, Calif., native went 3-for-4 twice last week in wins at UC Riverside and against Southern Illinois.
- Junior Connor O'Brien opens the series hitting .370 and is tied with Mazzone for the team lead in hits (10), while holding sole possession of a team-best in slugging percentage (.630). Overall, the infielder is coming off a road trip that saw him go for 8-for-14 (.571) at the plate, scoring four times with three RBI.
