STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball team (15-12, 8-8 WCC) shot the lights out from the perimeter in the first half and kept up the intensity in the second, keeping a foot on the pedal in a 65-53 win over Saint Mary's (11-16, 6-10 WCC) in the Tigers' annual Pink Game Saturday afternoon at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
First Half
- Pacific started out on a tear from the perimeter, going 5 of 9 in the first quarter on their way to a 19-15 lead after 10 minutes.
- The deep threat continued with two threes apiece from Kaylin Randhawa, Sofie Tryggedsson and Jordan Cruz as part of a 17-4 run that put Pacific ahead 36-22 late in the second quarter. Cruz led the Tigers in the first half with eight points off the bench on 2-of-4 shooting.
- The Tigers went on an 11-0 run in the second quarter, led by five points from Callie Kaiser and four from Brooklyn McDavid.
- Pacific out-rebounded Saint Mary's 21-17 in the first half and held the Gaels to just 5 of 14 from deep in the first 20 minutes. From deep, Pacific turned in an 8-of-16 clip for the half.
Second Half
- Pacific continued its strong three-shooting in the second half while also holding a normally-potent Gaels offense to 1 of 13 from the field and 1 of 10 from deep in the midst of a 41-31 third-quarter lead.
- The offense didn't stop for the Tigers, as Randhawa paved the way with six points in the third quarter and an explosive 15 for the half.
- The Tigers went on a 6-0 run in the fourth quarter with four points from Randhawa to go ahead 60-48 with 1:44 on the clock.
- Pacific held the Gaels to just 27.3 percent from the field in the second half, coupled with a 2-of-14 clip from three to stymie Saint Mary's and secure the Tigers' first season sweep since the 2014-15 season.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Josephine Millard played a season-high 25 minutes against the Gaels on Saturday with four rebounds.
- Pacific got back to its normal ways with its bench production, outscoring Saint Mary's 17-5 in the department. Cruz led the Tigers off the bench with a career-high 12 points.
- Randhawa was named the City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game, scoring in double figures for the first since logging a career-high 23 at LMU. Against Saint Mary's, the Turlock native went for 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
- Pacific held the Gaels to just 25 percent from deep for the night, the fourth-lowest clip from Saint Mary's in WCC play.
- From the field, Pacific held Saint Mary's to its third-lowest shooting clip of the season at 30.2 percent.
