LAST TIME OUT:
  • Looking to push their winning streak to six straight, Pacific fell short of a comeback on Saturday, Feb. 15 as they were defeated by Saint Mary's, 71-63, at University Credit Union Pavilion. Despite a fifteen-point halftime deficit, the Tigers clawed their way back to within just seven points with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, but ultimately were unable to tie the game before the final buzzer.
  • Despite picking up two early fouls in the first half, senior Jahlil Tripp was named the City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game after reaching double figures for the 20th time this season, finishing with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.
  • Providing a spark off the bench, junior Amari McCray also scored in double-digits, making it the first time the center has achieved this feat since a 15-point performance against Idaho State on Dec. 21.
  • Additionally, sophomore Jahbril Price-Noel knocked down three shots from behind-the-arc and finished 4-of-8 from the field for a total of 14 points.
  • Overall, the Tiger bench outscored the Gaels bench, 40-21.
THINGS TO KNOW:
  • Proving he can dominate no matter the matchup, Tripp enters his final home game as a Tiger as one of the most accomplished athletes in program history. Heading into the matchup against the Broncos, the 6'5" guard currently ranks 21st in total points (1,133), 13th in total rebounds (689), 9th in total assists (297) and 3rd in total steals (142).
  • Joining Tripp in their final home contest in the Orange and Black, seniors Gary Chivichyan, Shaquillo Fritz and Austin Vereen have also impressed in their lone seasons in Stockton. Overall, Chivichyan leads the Tigers in three-points made with 54 while Fritz ranks fourth in the WCC with 26 total blocks. Additionally, Vereen sits second on the team in free-throw percentage with an 80.0% clip.
  • Coming into the contest sitting solely in fourth place in the conference standings, Pacific currently leads the WCC in team defense (64.3) and blocked shots (3.97) with three games remaining on the regular season schedule.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS:
  • Playing in their final road game of the regular season, Santa Clara sits in seventh place heading into their matchup with the Tigers.
  • Last time out, the Broncos battled No. 23 BYU all night before ultimately falling to the Cougars, 85-75, on Thursday, Feb. 20.
  • Dangerous with the ball in their hands, SCU ranks fourth in the conference in team offense by scoring an average of 76.07 points per game.
  • Solid on all measures, the Broncos rank in the top three in the WCC in free-throw percentage (.734), assists (453/16.18), turnovers (13.93), steals (192/6.86) and team defensive rebounds (757/27.04)
