Tigers Grind Out Physical 76-67 Win Over LMU

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball team (9-5, 2-1 WCC) fought hard for the win, but came out on top of Loyola Marymount (4-12, 0-3 WCC) 76-67 Thursday evening in the Tigers' first game back in the Alex G. Spanos Center since late November. 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

First Half
  • Both teams shot cold out of the gate with neither team going upwards of 30 percent after the first quarter.
  • Pacific shot 50 percent from the field in the second quarter to take a narrow 34-32 lead into halftime.
Second Half
  • The Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 25-16 scoring advantage to put the game away. 
  • Pacific ended the game on a 5-0 run with all five coming from the free throw line to ice the game.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Valerie Higgins posted her third consecutive double double, going for 29 points and 10 rebounds to earn City of Stockton Human Resources Player of the Game honors. 
  • Pacific racked up the bench points against the Lions, holding the 23-8 advantage led by eight each from Lianna Tillman and Jordan Cruz. Cruz's eight tied a season high. 
  • The Tigers also nearly doubled up LMU on points off turnovers with a 34-18 advantage.
  • Brooklyn McDavid dropped 14 points on the night on 53.8 percent shooting, registering her third out of the last four games scoring in double digits. McDavid has now reached double digits in two of Pacific's three West Coast Conference games this season. 
  • Pacific tied a season-high with a 42.1 percent clip from deep on 8-of-19 shooting. The Tigers also limited LMU to five assists, the lowest for a Tiger opponent this season.
  • The Orange and Black forced 26 Lion turnovers, the second-highest by a Tiger opponent this season.
UP NEXT:
Pacific continues its home swing with a 4:00 p.m. tipoff against Pepperdine on Saturday at the Alex G. Spanos Center. The first 250 fans in the door will receive a free coffee mug courtesy of 209 Furniture.
