STOCKTON, Calif. – It was a back-and-forth affair for the second consecutive home contest, but the Pacific women's basketball team (10-5, 3-1 WCC) pulled out the 64-63 win over Pepperdine (7-7, 1-3 WCC) on Saturday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
First Half
- Brooklyn McDavid scored the Tigers' first two baskets of the game to become just the ____ player in program history to reach 1,000 points.
- McDavid led the Tigers after one with six points on 3-of-6 shooting.
- Pacific and Pepperdine were level after the first quarter with seven rebounds apiece while the Tigers held the 10-4 advantage in points in the paint.
- Pacific enjoyed a 6-0 run in the second quarter that included converting four of five field goals to pull to a 19-19 tie with the Waves.
- The Tigers extended the run to 12-2 in the second quarter, making four of five field goals to take a 31-25 lead.
Second Half
- Both teams shared a tightly-contested third quarter with Pepperdine taking a 49-43 lead late in the frame after trading punches with the Tigers for the better part of the 10-minute span.
- Pacific maintained a 20-9 advantage in bench points in the third quarter nearly doubled up Pepperdine on the defensive glass in the third quarter with a 9-5 advantage, despite both teams entering the fourth tied at 51.
- Jordan Cruz hit a clutch three at the 1:48 mark of the fourth quarter to give Pacific a 62-57 lead late in the contest.
- Valerie Higgins stole Pepperdine's last-gasp inbound pass at the end of regulation to wipe out the Waves' buzzer-beater chances.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Along with the 1,000th point of her career, McDavid racked up a game-high 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting to earn City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game honors.
- The Tigers outworked Pepperdine off the bench with a 23-9 advantage highlighted by the 11 in the third quarter and 11 overall from Jordan Cruz for a new season high.
