WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- The Tigers are led down low by Katrina McClane Award Watch List honoree Brooklyn McDavid, who has registered a double-digit scoring performance in 10 of the Tigers' 13 outings this year while averaging 15.2 points per game this season. McDavid won back-to-back WCC Player of the Week awards last season for her efforts at home against the Lions and Waves on January 24 and 26, respectively.
- Valerie Higgins won back-to-back West Coast Conference Player of the Week awards after going for a near-triple double (29 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists) in an 84-61 win over USF on Monday. She's the only player in the WCC to win two this season. The Preseason All-WCC selection and reigning WCC Defensive Player of the Year's nine steals against the Dons gave her 43 on the year (good for seventh in Division I) and is also tied for the third-highest single-game total in Division I this year.
- McDavid registered three offensive rebounds at CSU Bakersfield on December 7 to become just the seventh Tiger all-time to grab 200 offensive rebounds. At 71 career games entering Bakersfield, the Studio City native is the fastest in program history to hit the mark.
- The Tigers continue conference play as the No. 3 pick in the WCC Preseason Poll after returning the likes of McDavid, who made 2019 All-WCC Second Team and Higgins, last year's WCC Defensive Player of the Year.
LAST TIME OUT
- Pacific kicked off WCC play in the Bay Area last weekend, closing out the decade with games against Santa Clara (loss, 65-75) and San Francisco (win, 81-64).
- Higgins picked up her second consecutive WCC Player of the Week award for her performance in the opening weekend of conference play, averaging 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while nearly posting a triple double on Monday against the Dons (29 points, 10 rebounds, nine steals).
- Monday was one of Pacific's most offensively-cohesive performances of the year, shooting 52.4 percent from the floor to eclipse 50 percent shooting for just the second time this season (54.7 percent against UMKC on November 8).
SCOUTING THE LIONS
- LMU is led by Chelsey Gipson, who averages 11.0 points per outing and has a team-high 23 steals and 2.6 assists per game to her credit while starting all 14 of the Lions' contests so far.
- As a team, LMU shoots 38.7 percent from the field. The Lions rank last in the WCC over all contests with a -4.9 turnover margin, while Pacific enters Thursday with a conference-best +4.2.
- Ciera Ellington is converting 45.5 percent of her shots from deep, good fro third in the WCC while Jasmine Jones is collecting 2.9 offensive rebounds per game for fifth in the conference.
SCOUTING THE WAVES
- Pepperdine comes into the weekend under first-year head coach Kristen Dowling, who took over for Delisha Milton-Jones in the offseason.
- The Waves are both scoring and holding opponents under 65 points this season with Paige Fecske averaging a team-high 11.3 points per game.
- Pepperdine enters Saturday ranked fourth in the WCC with 41.0 rebounds per contest and possesses two of the top 15 rebounders in the WCC: Monique Andriuolo (10th/6.7) and Barbara Sitanggan (13th/6.4).
