STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's soccer team fell to visiting UC Santa Barbara, 2-0, on Wednesday night at Knoles Field.
The Tigers fall to 3-4-1 on the season, while the Gauchos improve to 6-2.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
- It took nearly five minutes for either team to get its first shot off. Pacific was first on the attempt with Johnatan Rico-Contreres taking a shot at the 4:30 mark.
- UC Santa Barbara answered with a shot at 7:39, which was blocked by a Pacific defender that resulted in a corner kick for hte Gauchos. With nothing coming to fruition, the Tigers regained control of the ball and were awarded consecutive corner kicks at 14:00 and 15:39 en route to a shot by Derick Roque that finished high.
- Just over eight minutes later (24:21) UCSB scored its first goal of the night. After a cross into the box, Pacific's Ethan Bandre made an attempt at a save, but a header by the Gauchos gave them the edge.
- At 36:07 UCSB scored its second goal of the night. Gauchos' forward Finn Ballard McBride beat the Tigers' defender, dribbling up the left side of the field and took a shot to the bottom right of the net.
- The Tigers out-shot the Gauchos 2-1 in the first 17 minutes of the second half, with Jose Angel Reyes placing both shots on target.
- Pacific would take three more shots on goal throughout the half, but was unable to slip a shot past UCSB's keeper Ben Roach, who finished with five saves on the night..
- Both squads recorded nine shots on the night, but the Tigers led in accuracy with five on-goal.
- Reyes, Rico-Contreres, and Roque each finished with a team-leading two shots on the night.
