Offensive Outburst Continues on Day Two of Aggie Roundup

DAVIS, Calif. – The No. 4 Pacific men's water polo team came ready day two of the Aggie Roundup on Saturday, using an efficient power play and six goals from Ege Colak to make quick work of Ottawa 22-4 at the Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis. The Tigers followed it up with a 19-7 win over Whittier later in the day.

GAME 1 VS. OTTAWA
  • Pacific's power play was the star of the show against the Spirit, as the Tigers went eight for 12 with a man up, including three scoring goals in the third period. 
  • Pacific came out strong in the first period with four shots in just a matter of minutes and two goals from Colak with just over a minute gone by in the game. Colak's first goal came 20 seconds off the opening sprint. 
  • Ottawa did not find a shot until the halfway point of the first period. 
  • UOP shutout Ottawa 5-0 in the first period then kept the foot on the pedal to take a 14-2 lead after two periods. 
  • Pacific outshot Ottawa 37-18 for the game, including 12-4 in that first eight minutes. The Tigers turned in a .417 shooting clip in the first eight minutes while going two for three on the power play with goals from Matthew Hosmer and Jeremie Cote.  
  • Pacific racked up three goals in a span of 1:01 from Aiden Jang, Bogdan Djerkovic and Luke Pavillard that saw the Tigers' lead stretch to 10-2.
  • Seven Pacific shots found the net in the second period off six different Tigers, including two from Colak.

GAME 2 VS. WHITTIER
  • Pacific outscored Whittier 6-1 in each of the first two periods. The first five of the six in the first period came on the power play. 
  • The Tigers exploded for a season high 40 shots against the Poets for a .475 shooting percentage. 
  • Pavillard led the charge with four goals on five shots to go along with two assists, pacing the team with six points against the Poets. 
  • Pacific went eight for 11 on the power play to keep up the momentum from just a few hours earlier in the win over Ottawa.  
  • Eli Lule stretched his scoring streak to three games, now finding the back of the net in every game of the Aggie Roundup thus far. 
  • Pavillard got back to his scoring ways with four goals against the Poets after staying quiet for the opening two games in Davis. The redshirt sernior was one of six multi goal scorers for the Tigers.

  • Pacific will finish up the Aggie Roundup tomorrow with another early start, with the opening sprint against San Jose State slated for 9:15 a.m.
