Pacific Drops 2-0 Decision to UNLV

STOCKON, Calif. – Despite out-shooting the UNLV 19-8, the Pacific men's soccer team fell to the Rebels, 2-0, at Knoles Field on Friday night.
 

In Case You Missed It

  • It took just two minutes to decide the Tigers fate with UNLV's Timo Mehlich scoring goals in the 41st and 43rd minutes. 
  • The Rebels controlled the game for nearly the first 25 minutes, but at 23:05 Pacific went on a shooting spree, taking six unanswered shots over an eight-minute span.
  • The Tigers were awarded back-to-back corner kicks in the last minute of the first half, resulting in a final shot by Jonatan Rico-Contreres that flew high and wide of the goal.
  • Pacific came out more aggressive in the second half, taking seven shots in the first 20 minutes, including four shots on goal.
  • With just under nine minutes remaining in regulation the Tigers were awarded seven corner kicks, but were unable to convert to goals.

     

Statistically Speaking

  • Ryan Her and Brady Graff came off the bench to combine for eight shots. Graff was three-for-four in shots on goal, while Her finished two-for-four in shots on goal.
  • Rico-Contreres, Anthony Orendain, Jose Angel Reyes, and Derick Roque each had two shots on the night.
  • As a team, Pacific had 19 shots, 11 in the second half, with seven on target.
  • Pacific goalkeeper Ethan Bandre recorded three saves in the match.

     

Up Next
Pacific will remain home for two more contests before hitting the road again. The Tigers will face CSU Bakersfield on Monday and UC Davis on Thursday. Both matches are scheduled for a 7:30 kickoff.
