BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A closely-contested affair Saturday afternoon at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield saw both teams exchange punches, but Pacific's five-game win streak came to an end with a 80-70 loss to CSU Bakersfield.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
First Half
- Pacific held Bakersfield 0 of 3 from the floor to start the game while getting out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes and a 9-4 lead after a three from Kaylin Randhawa.
- The Tigers held a lead through the opening 7:22 with Randhawa accounting for five of Pacific's 11 points.
- Sofie Tryggedsson pushed Pacific's lead to 26-16 at the 6:25 mark of the second quarter for her second three of the afternoon.
- The Tigers held Bakersfield to 0 of 7 from three over a span of 12:15 and 1 of 10 to end the half, similar to Thursday when Pacific shut down Santa Barbara from deep for the opening eight minutes.
- The Roadrunners had an answer with every punch Pacific threw, but the Tigers stayed out in front for the majority of the first half to the tune of nine fast-break points to Bakersfield's three.
Second Half
- Pacific held Bakersfield scoreless over a span of 2:44 in the third quarter, including 1 of 7 from the field and 1 of 5 from three.
- Pacific also forced the Runners cold on a separate stretch, going just 1 of 12 from the field and 1 of 8 from deep.
- A tightly-contested third quarter saw both teams score seven points apiece at the first media break of a 40-40 game before Isabel Newman broke the deadlock with a corner three out of the timeout. The theme continued with a 47-47 score leading into the final quarter.
- Pacific saw their biggest deficit of the afternoon after Bakersfield converted a three-point play to go up 57-50 with seven minutes remaining in the fourth.
- The lead wouldn't last though, as Pacific went on a 5-0 fourth-quarter run over 2:13 and kept the fight in them.
