WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- The two-game road trip this week marks the beginning of West Coast Conference play for the Tigers, who finished out non-conference play last week at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.
- The Tigers are led by Katrina McClane Award Watch List honoree Brooklyn McDavid, who has registered a double-digit scoring performance in nine of the Tigers' 11 outings this year and leads the team with 16.4 points per game.
- Sofie Tryggedsson has made an instant impact on the program with a team-high 25 three-pointers after spending the previous three seasons at Colorado State.
- Valerie Higgins won West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors last week for her individual performance at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, posting 22.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in two games against St. Francis and Toledo. Higgins poured in a career-high 25 points against St. Francis on Thursday in the opening game.
- McDavid, Tryggedsson and Higgins all rank in the top three on the squad in scoring average, total points, made field goals, total rebounds and rebound average. McDavid (16.4) and Higgins (14.9) rank second and fourth, respectively in the conference in scoring entering WCC play.
- Preseason All-WCC selection Higgins brings the hustle and helping hand for the Tigers this year with a team-high 31 steals and 37 assists.
- McDavid registered three offensive rebounds at CSU Bakersfield on December 7 to become just the seventh Tiger all-time to grab 200 offensive rebounds. At 71 career games entering Bakersfield, the Studio City native is the fastest in program history to hit the mark.
- The Tigers enter conference play this week as the No. 3 pick in the WCC Preseason Poll after returning the likes of McDavid, who made 2019 All-WCC Second Team and Higgins, last year's WCC Defensive Player of the Year.
