Tigers Host Matadors Sunday

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball (9-3) will play for its fifth-consecutive win and eighth home victory on Sunday afternoon, when it welcomes CSUN (2-9) to the Alex G. Spanos Center for first time since rejoining the West Coast Conference (WCC) in 2013-14.

AGAINST CSUN

  • Pacific leads the all-time series with the Matadors, 22-6, which includes a 10-1 record at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
  • The Tigers have lost just two games against the Matadors in the last 10 seasons.
  • Most recently, Pacific claimed a narrow 79-77 win at CSUN on Dec. 16, 2018.

     

LAST TIME OUT

  • Pacific is coming off of a convincing 65-46 victory over Long Beach State last Saturday.
  • Jahlil Tripp (15 points) and Gary Chivichyan (13 points) led the Tigers.
  • Tripp nearly claimed his third double-double of the season with his eight rebounds against Beach, while junior transfer Justin Moore pulled down a season-best seven rebounds.
  • Both Moore and Pierre Crockrell II dished out four assists. 
  • As a team, Pacific outscored LBSU 32-8 off the bench, lead by Chivichyan, who scored nine points from beyond the arch for the third-straight game. 

     

ABOUT THE TIGERS

  • Pacific has out-rebounded its opponents in 11 of 12 contests with season averages of 37.3 - 25.8.
  • The Tigers have been stellar from the field thus far this season, shooting over 40 percent in all-but-one game this season. Of those 11 games, Pacific has compiled an 8-3 record. 
  • Senior guard Tripp is averaging a team-best 12.7 points thanks to a 50.9 percent effort from the field and a 70.5 effort from the free throw line. Tripp rounds out his team-leading averages with 7.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
  • Moore dishes out a team-high 43 assists, while Crockrell II follows closely with 39 assists. 

     

SCOUTING THE MATADORS

  • CSUN Is coming off of a 71-62 loss to North Dakota, marking it the program's second-straight loss.
  • Junior guard Terrell Gomez has been stellar for the Matadors, averaging 22 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc.
  • Sophomore Darius Brown II ranks second in the Big West Conference with 5.2 assists per game and a 3.6 assist/turnover ratio.
