Tigers Host UC Riverside on Sunday, Coppin State on Tuesday

STOCKTON, CA – The Pacific men's basketball team will open 2019 Collegiate Hoops Roadshow presented by AtmosAir play on Sunday, Nov. 17, when it hosts UC Riverside at the Alex G. Spanos Center. 

The "Collegiate Hoops Roadshow Presented by AtmosAir" showcases over the next two weeks. This year's event includes games played between 11 different D-I schools. The tournament is anchored by Pacific and Arkansas, each hosting four games, along with several additional co-hosts also playing multiple home games such as Montana, South Dakota, Northern Kentucky, Northern Illinois, and UC Riverside. Other programs joining Pacific at the Alex G. Spanos Center for this year's event will be Coppin State, SIU-Edwardsville, and Longwood.

THE FIRST TWO
The Tigers will face UC Riverside and Coppin State within three days, before taking a break from tournament play and hosting Boise State (Nov. 23).

 

LAST TIME OUT
Pacific improved to 3-2, including 2-0 at home, after defeating Pacific Union with a significant 86-48 decision on Thursday night. Four Tigers scored in double-figures, led by Amari McCray with 12 points. Jahlil Tripp and Austin Vereen each totaled 11 points and Broc Finstuen contributed 10 points. Shaquillo Fritz had his best performance to date, pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds and scoring six points.

 

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE TIGERS

  • Justin Moore leads the Tigers with 11.6 points, 3.6 assists, and 1.6 steals.
  • Tripp is pulling down a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game
  • The Tigers have outscored all five of their opponents in the paint this season, most recently out-scoring Pacific Union 42-12. 
  • Pacific has out-rebounded its opponents (180-111).

     

AGAINST UC RIVERSIDE

  • Sunday will mark the 25th meeting between the Tigers and Highlanders. Pacific currently leads the all-time series 20-4, including a 9-3 record at home.
  • The Tigers are 2-0 in the the last two seasons, defeating UC Riverside 57-55 in 2017-18 and 74-54 in 2018-19. 
  • Senior Jahlil Tripp led all players with a season-high 12 rebounds against the Highlanders in 2018-19. In addition, he finished 4-for-8 from the field and 1-for-2 from the free throw line for a total of nine points.

     

AGAINST COPPIN STATE

  • Coppin State leads the all-time series record 1-0. The Eagles defeated the Tigers 86-77 on Nov. 27, 1993 at the San Juan Shootout in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
