Pacific Falls to San Diego, 3-1

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team dropped its second-consecutive West Coast Conference match Saturday when it fell to the University of San Diego, 3-1 (25-17, 25-27, 26-24, 25-16). 

The Tigers fall to 10-6, including a 2-2 record in WCC play. USD improves to 12-4, 5-0 in conference play.

 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

  • San Diego hit above .300 in three of four sets, while holding the Tigers to just one set of .200 or better.
  • Pacific held the edge in service aces (10-4), but committed a season-high 15 service errors for a .824 serve percentage.
     

1st Set

  • Pacific and San Diego were tied at 3-3 and 7-7 before San Diego pulled away with a 5-1 run (12-8). 
  • At the media timeout Pacific trailed by just two (15-13). The Toreros won the next serves to pull away by six. 
  • The Tigers would win consecutive serves just once throughout the set, winning at points 20-15 an 20-16 on two straight hitting errors by the Toreros.
     

2nd Set

  • San Diego opened the second set with an 8-4 lead and extended its lead to 12-6 after a 4-2 run by the Toreros. 
  • Pacific was at a significant deficit until the 21-15 mark. Following a service error by the Tigers, Pacific went on a 7-1 run to knot the game at 22-22.
  • The remainder of the set was a seesaw battle with the Tigers serving at set point three times before a service ace by Sedona Sherman put the set away (27-25).
     

3rd Set

  • The score was tied 10 times throughout the set. 
  • Following a 19-19 tied, Pacific won consecutive points on service aces by Riley Patterson to take a late two-point lead. 
  • A USD kill and attack error by Pacific erased the Tigers lead and tied the game at 21-21. 
  • Bradford would record the Tigers final kill of the set, tying the game at 23-23. 
  • At 24-24, USD cashed in on a kill by Thana Fayad and a Tiger attack error to claim the set by a score of 26-24.
     

4th Set

  • Pacific opened the set with the lead and held it until a 7-7 tie.
  • San Diego took its eventual winning lead on a service error at 9-8. The Toreros then out-scored the Tigers 14-8 to win the match.

     

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Gabby Leo dished out more than 30 assists for just the fifth time this season, totaling 32 against the Toreros. 
  • Bradford had a career day, collecting season bests of14.5 points, 12 kills, two series aces. In addition, Bradford hit .308 en route to hitting .333 on the weekend.
  • Patterson recorded a team-leading 12 kills and three service aces.
  • Jadyn Tubbs topped all players with 18 digs.

     

UP NEXT
