STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team earned its first victory at home on Thursday night with its 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 25-21, 25-16) win over the University of San Francisco at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
The Tigers improve to 12-9 on the season, including a 4-5 record against their Conference foes. USF falls to 5-15, 1-8 in WCC play.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
1st Set
- The score was tied four times throughout the first eight serves. San Francisco then went on a 6-1 run to take a 10-5 lead.
- Pacific answered with a 5-2 run that knotted the game at 12-12.
- The two squads were tied four more times in the set, at points 13, 14, 15, and 24.
- Following an attack error by San Francisco, Pacific took a late three-point lead at 22-19. The Dons bounced right back within one point following a kill by Sophie Sydenham and a Pacific attack error.
- Riley Patterson and Lucy Carpenter put the set away with consecutive kills at 25-24 and 26-24, respectively.
2nd Set
- The second set seemed as though it was going to be another back and forth match. The Tigers controlled a majority of the set, taking it largest lead (12-9) on consecutive kills by Kennedy Kaminsky.
- San Francisco battled back and took its first and final lead (16-15) of the set on a service ace by Orsula Staka.
- The Dons would go on to out-score the Tigers 8-3, which included five consecutive points to put them at set point, 24-18.
3rd Set
- There was a tie score five times in the set with the final tie at 15-15.
- Following a 15-12 Dons lead, Pacific won seven straight serves to regain a lead at 18-16.
- San Francisco would inch within two points twice more (19-17 and 23-21), but the Tigers would eventually claim the set by a score of 25-21.
4th Set
- Pacific controlled the set from the first serve. With a 12-9 lead, the Tigers went on a 5-0 run to gain a significant eight point lead.
- Despite nearly matching point for point the remainder of the set, Pacific had already pulled out of reach and cruised to the 25-16 win.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Carissa Bradford matched her career-high of 12 kills to lead the Tigers offensively. Overall she committed just two errors in 38 total attempts for a .263 hitting percentage.
- Patterson matched her career-high of 23 digs, a record which she set last season, also against San Francisco, on Nov. 20, 2018. In addition, Patterson contributed 10 kills on the night.
- Kaminsky hit a team-leading .318 (8-1-22).
- Defensively, four Tigers — Kaminsky, Sedona Sherman, Lucy Carpenter, and Bradford — all recorded two assisted blocks.
- As a team, Pacific held the edge in kills (53-45), assists (44-41) and digs (79-75).
