First Half Goal the Difference in 1-0 Loss to Gaels

MORAGA, Calif. – Weronika Baranowska recorded seven saves and Pacific created a multitude of chance throughout the afternoon, but a first half goal from Saint Mary's (7-7-1, 1-3-1 WCC) was enough to sink the Tigers (3-12-0, 0-4-0 WCC) in a 1-0 defeat Wednesday afternoon at Saint Mary's Stadium in Moraga.

In Case You Missed It
  • Jenae Packard created the first two opportunities for the Tigers within the first ten minutes of the match, first sending a ball in to Isabella Pariente in the fifth minute before taking it herself in the ninth.
  • The Tigers saw a few viable opportunities in the first 45 minutes, but among Pacific's five first half shots was Katelyn Chandler's shot off the left woodwork in the 21stminute.
  • Chandler also had a great chance at goal in the 80th minute down the right side, but was taken off the ball by a defender at the last second.
  • Rhea Arcenal Chan saw her first minutes of action since August 25 against Nevada, logging eight minutes against the Gaels.
Statistically Speaking
  • Pacific created a variety of opportunities throughout the match despite being outshot 18-10, spearheaded by two shots apiece from Chandler and Pariente along with midfield playmaking from Packard.
  • Chandler's hit off the post was one of her team leading two shots in the first half – the other came in the 19th minute, a roller to the middle of the goal.
  • Weronika Baranowska recorded five saves in the first half, leading to a seven save outing Wednesday afternoon. The Polish international has now recorded seven saves in three of her last four outings.
