Tigers Drop Heartbreaker to San Francisco in Extra Time

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team threw chance after chance at San Francisco, but the Tigers (3-11-0, 0-3-1 WCC) dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision in extra time to the Dons (9-4-2, 2-1-1) Saturday night at Knoles Field.

In Case You Missed It
  • The Tigers created multiple chances at a multitude of points in the match, including separate shots from Isabella Pariente that sailed just wide of the post.
  • Weronika Baranowska went the distance yet again in conference play, assuming her position between the posts for the duration of the 100 minutes Saturday night. It was her third consecutive start.
  • The team honored multiple alumni at halftime in honor of the program celebrating 25 years of Pacific Women's Soccer.

Statistically Speaking
  • Defense was most prevalent in the opening points of the match with each team having recorded a shot at the 20 minute mark. The first half ended with shots tied at four apiece, with a similar story coming after the final whistle – 11 shots per side for the night.
  • Pacific's 11 shots were the highest tally of conference play so far and the team's highest mark since September 22 against Portland State – six shots on frame were also the highest since the non conference tilt against the Vikings.
  • Ryanne Molenaar notched her second goal of the year in the 31stminute before Hunter More also tallied her second in the 74thminute to help Pacific retake the 2-1 lead. Molenaar and More tallied the fifth and sixth goals by Pacific freshmen this year, respectively.
  • The Tigers shared the wealth offensively with their 11 shots coming off seven different players. Molenaar, More and Pariente led the team with two apiece. Six of the 11 shots were on frame, coming off five different players.

Up Next
  • Pacific has a quick turnaround for its next match, taking a short road trip to Saint Mary's for a midweek tussle on Wednesday, October 23 at 3:30 p.m. before heading south to Pepperdine on Saturday, October 26. Both matches will be streamed live on The WCC Network.
