SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific women's volleyball team closed out weekend play with a four-set (25-27, 29-27, 25-22, 25-20) win over Gonzaga on Saturday afternoon at the Martin Centre.
Pacific improves to 11-7, 3-3 in WCC play, while Gonzaga continues to look for its first conference victory, falling to 6-12 overall, 0-6 in the WCC.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
- Pacific remains perfect at the Martin Centre, improving its overall record to 8-0. The Tigers are now 12-3 all-time against the Bulldogs.
- The Orange and Black topped its opponents in kills (70-49), hitting percentage (.221-.180), assists, (63-45) and digs (87-74).
1st Set
- Gonzaga jumped to a 3-0 lead en route to a 14-8 lead over the Tigers.
- Down 19-3, Pacific battled back thanks to a 10-4 run, to tie the game at 23-23
- The two squads battled back and forth, tying the set at points 24 and 25 before the Bulldogs finished out the set with consecutive points at 26-25 and 27-25.
2nd Set
- In another seesaw battle, the Tigers and Bulldogs were tied through the first 10 serves.
- Pacific went on a 4-0 run to take a 9-5 lead. Gonzaga answered right back with a 3-0 run to remain close.
- Gonzaga would go on another 3-0 run to tie the game up at 12-12, but Pacific won the next six points to take its largest lead of the set (18-12).
- With a comfortable 20-14 lead, the Tigers committed six errors over the next seven serves to allow the Bulldogs to tie the game at 21-21.
- The score was tied four more times in the set. At 27-27, the Tigers went on to win the set on an a Pacific block and a kill by freshman middle blocker Sedona Sherman.
3rd Set
- Tigers were first on the board, but Gonzaga slipped past Pacific following a 3-3 tie to take its first lead of the match. The Bulldogs went up by as much as three points (8-5), but Pacific had 4-1 run to tie the game at 9-9.
- The score was tied at points 10, 11, and 12 before the Tigers were able to regain the lead.
- Pacific won on five of the next six serves to take it largest lead (17-13).
- The Orange and Black held its lead the remainder of the set, snagging the set victory by a score of 25-22.
4th Set
- Pacific opened the set with a strong 5-1 run, but Gonzaga answered with a. 6-2 stretch that tied the game at 7-7. The Tigers regained the lead, but allowed the Bulldogs to tie the set at 11-11, 13-13, and 14-14.
- The Tigers out-scored the Gonzaga, 11-6 en route to a set and match victory.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Riley Patterson continues to be the Tigers top kill producer, leading them with 21 kills. The sophomore from Sonora, Calif. recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 15 digs on the afternoon.
- Kennedy Kaminsky had a strong performance, hitting .500 with 13 kills. Kaminsky also totaled a team-high five assisted blocks.
- Other Pacific leaders were Gabby Leo (31 assists) and Jadyn Tubbs (22 digs).
