Tigers Drop Contest to BYU

PROVO, Utah – The Pacific women's soccer team strung together a few chances and stood tall in the defensive third when needed, but the Tigers (3-10-0, 0-3-0) ultimately fell to No. 6 BYU (12-0-1, 2-0-1) Saturday night by a score of 6-0 in frigid conditions at South Field in Provo.

In Case You Missed It:
  • Freshman goalkeeper Weronika Baranowska played all 90 minutes for the second straight outing with Wednesday night's match against Santa Clara being the first time the Polish international had gone the distance since September 1 against Fresno State.
  • The Tigers strung together viable chances in the first half, including a bending shot from Isabella Pariente in the 22nd minute that sailed just wide of the right post.
  • Baranowska made two spectacular saves in a one minute span early in the match, driving both shots away in one handed fashion in the fourth minute to keep the game close.

Statistically Speaking:
  • Baranowska corralled a season high nine saves against the Cougars, breaking a previous season high of eight against Fresno State and then tied this week against Santa Clara.
  • Four of the freshman's nine stops came in the first 20 minutes of the match, including two in the first four minutes that were punched away from the net.

Up Next:
  • The Tigers returns to Knoles Field on Saturday, October 19 to take on San Francisco for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff as the program will honor 25 seasons of Pacific Women's Soccer. The match will be streamed exclusively on The WCC Network.
