Tigers Impress at San Francisco State Invitational

OFFICIAL RESULTS

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Pacific cross country team took to picturesque Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park on Friday for the San Francisco State Invitational, leaving with 143 points for a sixth place finish out of 12 teams alongside two individual top 20 showings.

Running unattached, redshirt Emma Winkler turned in the third top ten finish of her career and first in a 6k via an eighth place showing in 23:08.3. Kendall Bietsch filled the void of the Tigers' other top 20 finisher, placing 18th with a time of 23:50.9.

"We had a lot of personal records today," Pacific head coach Josh Jones said. "Kendall did a great job leading the team for her first race ever. Overall, it was a good set up for the Bronco Invitational next weekend."

Some of those personal records included junior Kimberly Villegas' 24:41.3 for 32nd place and freshmen Victoria Crawford's 26:17.6 for 63rd and Kari Tanji's 27:09.8 for 68th.

The Tigers are back in action next Saturday at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale once more for the annual Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. The race will be the last tune up before the West Coast Conference championships November 1 in Los Angeles.
