Blackmon Earns NSCAA All-American Honors

NSCAA Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tristan Blackmon has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) NCAA Division I All-America Second Team, the organization announced today. The honor comes days after Blackmon was named to the NSCAA All-Far West Region First Team.

"We are very pleased for this recognition for Tristan," said head coach Ryan Jorden. "Earlier this week he had received recognition as one of the best players on the West Coast, but to be recognized on the national stage is a terrific honor for him individually, and secondarily for our team and the success we had this year."

Blackmon earns this distinction after having a stellar 2016 season while leading the Tigers to a 13-4-2 record as well as a NCAA Tournament second round appearance. The defender is the first Tiger to earn All-American honors in program history and is the only player from a West Coast Conference institution this year on an All-American team. Moreover, Blackmon is the first WCC All-American since Santa Clara's Erik Hurtado earned the honor in 2012.

Blackmon led the Tigers this season with five assists and was second in total points with 13. The Las Vegas, Nev. native was ninth in the WCC with four goals on the year and ranked fifth in total assists. Three of the defender's four goals came in conference action, one of which was the game-winner in the home finale against Portland. Following the season Blackmon was named to the All-WCC First Team, giving him his third-career postseason award from the Conference after receiving All-WCC Second Team and All-Freshman Team recognition in 2014.
