Box Score Spokane, Wash. – Three goals were not enough for the Pacific women's soccer team as they fell to the Gonzaga Bulldogs 4-3 in overtime. The loss drops the Tigers to 1-12-1 on the year, 1-5 in WCC play and brings the Bulldogs to 6-7-2, 2-4 in conference action.
Pacific got on the board first in the eleventh minute as Sigrid Aas drew a foul in the box resulting in a penalty kick which Samia Adam lined up for. Adam, who was looking for her second goal this season, fired it past the diving goalie to give the Tigers the 1-0 lead. Pacific would add another on Aas' third goal of the year in the 39th minute as she dribbled around the defender and curled it towards the far post for the score.
A couple minutes later
Kendall Bietsch looked to widen the lead as she rifled off a shot from near the edge of the box, but it bounced off the crossbar out of play.
In the second half the Bulldogs got on the board off a header that got past goalie Melissa Ma. Pacific answered back shortly after in the 65th minute when Adam sent a cross to Bianca Lopez who squeezed it past the goalie for her first collegiate goal. In the final ten minutes of regulation Gonzaga would score again on another header to cut the Tiger lead to just one. In the closing minute the Bulldogs found the equalizer on a long ball sent into the box and headed in by Aliyah Miller.
In extra time Gonzaga didn't wait long to take the victory as 57 seconds in Kelly Bieraugel one timed a shot towards the far post past Ma.
The three goals by the Orange and Black were the most since the 2013 season when they defeated Gonzaga 3-2 in overtime.
The Tigers head home next week to host San Diego on Thursday before taking on BYU on Saturday, which will be the first part of a double header with the men's soccer team who play that evening. A live stream of both matches will be available courtesy of theW.tv.
