Box Score Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific volleyball team romped over San Francisco in a 3-0 sweep Saturday at the Alex G. Spanos Center (25-12, 25-17, 25-13). Lexi Elman led the way with 15 kills, hitting .429 and tallying 14 digs.
The Tigers hit .362 as a team, with Andie Shelton adding eight kills (hitting .467), 16 assists and nine digs. Emily Baptista chipped in seven kills, while Ashlyn Fleming added six while hitting .417. Janie Feldsher hit .364 with five kills. Jessica Diederich tallied 22 assists with four digs and a kill as the Tigers' primary setter.
Pacific never trailed in the match, and were tied only once at 1-1 of set one. The Tigers got on track with two kills from Feldsher building a 6-2 lead and pushed the margin to 10-5 on a block from Elman and Fleming. The Tigers embarked on a 10-5 run by spreading the ball around and cruised home to a 25-12 run on kills from Alicja Wilk and Elman.
In set two, the Tigers tallied the first five points, and led 11-4 on a kill from Shelton. USF was able to claw within 12-10 but Elman and Fleming posted back-to-back kills, and Elman restored a five-point lead at 17-12. Shelton picked up a pair of kills and Elman closed it out with a two kills for a 25-17 win headed into the break.
Pacific reeled off a 6-2 run to open set three, and the Dons got no closer than 9-7. A 6-1 run was led by Fleming and Shelton for a 15-8 lead. Wilk tallied a kill as the Tigers pushed the margin to 21-12 and back-to-back attacking errors by the Dons provided Pacific's final two points in the 25-13 win.
The Tigers held USF to .097 hitting for the match by out-digging the Dons 44-34.
Pacific post a third-straight sweep to move to 13-9 on the year and 7-3 in West Coast Conference play. USF falls to 4-19 overall and is 0-10 in WCC play.
The Tigers will hit the road for matches at Loyola Marymount (Thursday, 7 p.m.) and Pepperdine (Saturday, 1:00 p.m.). Pacific will look to avenge it's lone conference loss to an unranked team against the Waves.
