Men's Swimming Falls To Stanford

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific men's swim team was back in action today, taking on No. 12 Stanford in their first meet of 2016.  The Tigers came away with two second place finishes on the day, as well as three third places.  To end the day, Pacific won the 50 Fly, 200 IM, and 200 Free Relay, with the final total scores favoring Stanford 134-63.

The day started with the 400 Medley Relay, which Pacific's team of Brandon Presswood, Yahav Shahaff, Jared Vu, and Stewart Harrison finished in 3:26.54.  Pacific's second team; made up of Casey Fleming, Georan Meendering, Miles MacKenzie, and Stephen Blevins, finished in 3:35.00.

In the 800 Free, Collin Craig took third with a time of 7:51.38.  Nicholas Zachmeier, the only other Tiger to compete in the event, came in fourth.  Zachmeier's time was 8:27.19.  In the 400 Free, Zachmeier took third, swimming a 4:05.00, just 0.30 seconds ahead of Devon Thumwood.

Swimming in his first meet as a Tiger, Dylan Toy came in fourth in the 200 Free with a time of 1:47.09, the best time of any Tiger.  Lane Goedhart came in just behind the freshman Toy, finishing in 1:48.10.  Toy also recorded a 46.84 in the 100 Free and was part of Pacific's winning 200 Free Relay team, swimming with Shahaff, Ongstad, and MacKenzie en route to a 1:24.34 time.

The Tigers took second in the 50 Back thanks to Mitchell Ongstad, who swam a 23.86.  Vu and Goedhart also competed in the event, ending with times of 23.99 and 30.30, respectively.  Another second place finish came in the 50 Free, which saw MacKenzie swim a 21.30.

Shahaff helped Pacific place once again, taking third in the 50 Breast with a time of 26.07.  Vu recorded a 22.86 time in the 50 Fly, good enough to win the event for the Tigers.  In the 200 IM, Craig came out on top with a time of 2:00.52.

The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow morning at 11:00 am when the men's and women's teams will play host to Cal Poly at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
