In a match that featured two teams just outside of the top-25, the Tigers proved to be the better side on the day as Pacific came up with its second 3-0 sweep of the weekend to setup a championship match later in the day versus Creighton to close out the Bluejay Invitational.
Establishing their pin attack early in the match, the Tigers saw their outsides find open spaces in the Lipscomb defense that enabled Pacific to take early control of the opening set. Going early and often to their ace on the outside, the Tigers fed junior Lexi Elman and were rewarded with four early kills as Pacific held a steady lead until midway though the frame. If not for a slew of Tiger mistakes, Pacific would have pulled away from the Lady Bison but instead saw Lipscomb stay within striking distance. Eventually Lipscomb would close the gap and even take the lead as the Lady Bison pulled ahead late in the set setting up a a set-point chance at 24-23. With the backs against the wall, the Tigers not only fought off one set point but held off a second point before turning things around and capturing the first set victory on their first attempt. Sophomore Maycie LaBass finished off the late set rally for the Tigers with a pair of kills as the young outside was perfect in the frame going 7-for-7 at the net. Elman would finish with nine kills in the set as the two outsides combined for 16 of Pacific's 20 kills.
After holding on for the opening victory, the Tigers went to work on taking the 2-0 lead as Pacific established its block to frustrate the Lady Bison hitters. Out of the gates quickly, Pacific came up with a pair of early blocks from Holland Crenshaw in the middle as the big 6-4 senior combined alongside of her teammates to push Pacific to an early lead. The Tigers would build their lead to as much as six in the set at 15-9 before Lipscomb mounted a comeback that closed the gap to just two at 22-20. Despite seeing their lead shrink, the Tigers would not allow the Lady Bison to close any closer than two as Pacific went to Elman and Crenshaw for kills before Crenshaw ended the set with her fourth block when she paired up with redshirt-freshman Alex Holt to stop a Lipscomb attack.
With two sets in hand, the Tigers put the pedal to the floor in set three and ran away with the third and final set of the morning session as Pacific's attack found another gear that Lipscomb could not answer. Nearly perfect in the frame, the Tigers' attack hit. 684 as Pacific was dug just six times on 19 swings while tallying 13 kills. Leading the way in the set was Elman as the junior found the floor with six of seven swings while Crenshaw continued her impressive play from the second set with three kills on five attacks to go along with four more blocks.
