Stockton, Calif. - Lynne Roberts resigned Monday as the head coach of the Pacific women's basketball team to accept the head coaching position at the University of Utah. Roberts spent the last nine seasons at the helm of the Tigers, leading Pacific to four consecutive berths in the WNIT, and earned co-Coach of the Year honors from the West Coast Conference in 2015.
In nine years at Pacific, Roberts posted a 135-144 record, second on Pacific's coaching victories list. The Tigers were 21-10 last season after a third place finish in the WCC. Pacific earned a bid to the WNIT, falling to Sacramento State in the first round.
"Leaving Pacific was a difficult decision for me, as I have absolutely loved coaching there for the past nine years," Roberts said. "I am incredibly indebted to the leadership I received at Pacific and for all the tremendous players I had the privilege to coach. They all have taught me so much and I am forever grateful."
Roberts turned a program which had earned just one post-season berth in its history to four consecutive WNIT berths, and three post-season wins in the last four years. Under Roberts the Tigers turned in their winningest season ever in 2013, with a program best 27-8 record, and its second-highest win total last season.
"We are certainly grateful to Lynne for raising the level of our program during her time at Pacific," said Director of Athletics Ted Leland. "She and her staff have worked tirelessly to turn Pacific women's basketball into a conference contender, a perennial post-season participant, and on the cusp of the NCAA Tournament. And in that process, also make the job of Pacific women's basketball head coach a desirable position. We wish Lynne all the best at Utah, while we look forward to the continued growth of our program."
Associate head coach Bradley Davis will handle the day-to-day operations of the program.
