Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team defeated Portland 4-2 at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts and In Shape West Lane on Saturday, March 29. Due to rain, the match was concluded indoors. The Tigers improved to 8-8 overall, 1-2 in West Coast Conference play, while the Pilots dropped to 5-4 and 1-2 in WCC action.

"Today was a great day for the team," said Head Coach Charlotte Scatliffe. "Gergana Boncheva stepped it up at No. 5 singles in true upper-class men fashion to clench the point this afternoon. It's no coincidence that the three players that won in singles today have been around the block for a few years and were ready to step it up for a big match today. We are looking forward to the match against Gonzaga tomorrow as we have the momentum on our side."

After winning the doubles point, the Tigers had singles wins from Iveta Masarova, Hana Ritterova and Gergana Boncheva to clinch the match.

Pacific is next in action with a home match at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts on Sunday, March 30, against Gonzaga at 10:00 a.m.
